This liner can fly 9,600 kilometres non-stop at the speed of 900 kilometres per hour. Depending on the layout, it can comfortably cater for either 122 or 168 passengers.
O. Antonov, the famous aircraft designer, once said that an ugly plane can't fly. The IL-62 is very elegant easily controllable and has fine performance characteristics. It looks like an arrow in the air: its wings fixed at an angle to the axis and closer to the tail, produce an impression of lightness and swiftness.
The noise level is reduced in the saloon thanks to the fact that the plane's powerful engines are arranged in the tail, and the noise lacks behind the plane so to say. Its modern flight control and navigation equipment facilitates landings and take-offs in various climatic zones of the planet. In spite of its considerable weight of 165 tonnes, the plane does not require special runways. The IL-62's landing gear is designed so that it can use airports in many countries
